Dear Daughters,
As we step into 2024, a year that promises to bring profound changes, I wanted to share some thoughts with you about embracing these changes with grace, courage, and an open heart. November 5th marks a significant moment for our country—a turning point shaping our collective future. On this day, we’ll either be stepping into the light, guided by hope and progress, or veering into a darker path filled with uncertainty. I hope we’ll be moving toward the light, with the first bi-racial woman poised to become president, symbolizing a new era of inclusivity and opportunity.
Change is one of life’s only constants. It can often feel overwhelming, even frightening, especially when stepping into the unknown. But it’s important to remember that change is also a powerful force for growth, learning, and renewal. Through change, we discover new strengths within ourselves, adapt, evolve, and ultimately, become the best versions of who we are meant to be.
As you face the changes that life will inevitably bring your way, I encourage you to embrace them with an open mind and a positive attitude. The key to navigating change successfully lies in your ability to remain adaptable, to see the possibilities that come with new beginnings rather than focusing on what is being left behind. No matter how daunting it may seem, every change carries the seeds of opportunity. The opportunity to learn something new, to meet new people, to experience different cultures, and to expand your horizons in ways you never thought possible.
When you look at the world, try to see it not just as it is but as it could be. Envision the possibilities that lie ahead, and work towards making those possibilities a reality. Whether we’re talking about personal changes—like starting a new job, moving to a new city, or building new relationships—or the broader societal shifts we are witnessing, your perspective can shape your experience.
Believe in your ability to adapt and thrive, even in the face of uncertainty. Remember that sometimes it’s okay to feel unsure, scared, or hesitant. These feelings are natural and part of the human experience. What matters is how you choose to respond to them. Face your fears with courage, trust in your inner strength, and move forward with confidence, knowing that you have the tools within you to handle whatever comes your way.
As we approach this pivotal moment in our country’s history, I want you to know that I have complete faith in your ability to navigate the changes ahead. You can choose your path whether our nation steps into the light or back. Let this year be a reminder that you are capable of great things, that your voice matters, and that your choices—big or small—contribute to the kind of world we will all share.
Embrace change, my dear daughters, for it is the very essence of life. With each new day, we are given the chance to grow, learn, and make a difference. Trust yourselves, lean on each other, and never forget you are strong, capable, and resilient.
With unwavering confidence in you and all that you will achieve,
Dad
